This shop is wonderful!  I just wish I could refill everything. :-)
The products available are simple, clean, reasonably priced, just the way you would want them. I also loved the dog behind the counter. Very homey and relaxed feeling. Along with the sincere and personable nature of the owner.

I love this shoppe! I have been a customer since this place opened. So, I've been using the products for sometime, and it's all I use really. I love all the body products and enjoy scenting my cleaning products. My home smells so good since I've been buying all my soaps here. And the sustainable goodies and so fun! Most importantly I've reduced my waste considerably by refilling. Extra added bonus the owner and all her employees are super friendly!

There are so many wonderful things about The Refill Shoppe.  It's a fun and cozy place to visit (it feels like a visit more than shopping).  It's a great place to get simple, chemical free household products.  AND they can be completely personalized by scent and/or essential oils.

BEST of all, it is a way of promoting and expanding awareness about alternatives to the "use-once" culture.  I like products with a little history and with a little community, and The Refill Shoppe is the place to go.  The Refill Shoppe is also a supporter of community events, artists and small businesses.  By going inside, you are doing much more than just getting a couple bottles of shampoo.  The effects are far-reaching.

Fans of the Refill Shoppe are so fervent because it's a simple and brilliant idea that we hope will spread and subtly change consumer culture as we know it.

I found this shop after someone brought a linen spray from here to a gift exchange the week of Christmas. They sell an assortment of detergent, lotion, shampoo, dish-washing liquid, etc in bulk amounts by weight. You can bring in your own container or use one of theirs, then add an essential oil or fragrance. The spray someone gifted had the 1000 flowers fragrance and was LOVELY.

Plus, if you bring your own container you get to feel good about helping the environment and reducing packaging in landfills.

I had been meaning to go into this shop after I saw the article in the Ventura County Star back in September.  Finally, I managed to make it there and what a treat!  I'd been looking for a lotion like the one I found several years ago up north.  This place is awesome! I found the owner to be incredibly friendly and helpful, and I love the whole premise behind the store.  I'll be heading back next week for more than just lotion. Only downside is I wish she were located in Fillmore :-)

The town has always seemed more like my home, rather than my actual hometown. However; I was getting bored of my same old shopping/eating/entertainment routine. That is when I came across this ingenious love affair while browsing Ventura's website. The Refill Shoppe? Adorable 70s eco-chic green deco? Vegan & Organic? Right up my alley. Added to my itinerary.

Upon arrival, I believe there was an hour until closing. {The hours are extremely fitting and flexible - BTW} Immediately, I got the warmest greeting from the owner herself and her gorgeous dog Sophie. She explained the whole concept. I was so overwhelmed, and well, let's just put it this way; that may have been my first, but it sure wasn't my only trip. I ended up walking out with 'spray lotion' (added patchouli) and 'hand sanitizer' (added tea tree oil). I could not stop using them the first night!

When I left, I made sure to complement on the music as that totally set the mood for me. I mean, Hendrix and "A Boy Named Sue"? Yes.

Overall, I think I spent more time talking than shopping. Her story is so inspiring and identical to most. Check out more about the girl who grew up on a boat/ shares my same love for Ventura/ eco-queen... But be careful! It's love at first sight!
